Provides a transformative educational and social experience for children and adults with learning differences.

Welcome to the Kingsbury Center.

Our roots go back to 1938, when educator Marion Kingsbury founded a tutoring center for children who were struggling to read. Her  "Student-First" philosophy continues to guide every plan, policy, procedure and expectation at The Kingsbury Center. Her vision—to transform the lives of those who learn differently—motivates the work of every educator and professional at the Center.

In 2012, Kingsbury became the first educational institution in Washington, DC to become a member of EdLeader21, the professional learning community for 21st Century Education Leaders. Kingsbury professionals -- at our Day School as well as in Center Services -- have access to a wealth of state-of-the-art technological supports and strategies to incoporate into individualized, differentated plans for each learner.

Kingsbury Day School serves students from age 4 to 21, in Pre-K through Grade 12+. Our highly skilled and caring educators take a whole-child, student-first, best-practice approach to learning, with outstanding results. Across all grades, we prepare students for success and fulfillment in the next stage of their learning. Kingsbury's Early Education Program (KEEP) and our HOPE Program for non-traditional high school students, are innovative programs unique to Kingsbury.

Kingsbury Center Services amplify the strengths of students of every age and every learning style in a culture of respect. Kingsbury's licensed, certified practitioners have helped thousands of people achieve individual goals and improve performance in the classroom, in the workplace and in their personal lives. The TutoringSpeech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Diagnostic and Psychological Services provided by our practitioners are individualized and differentiated to meet the specific needs of each client. Kingsbury Center Services are integrated as needed into the educational programs of students in Kingsbury Center, and are also available to children and adults throughout the DC metro area, including Maryland and Virginia.

Kingsbury's programs, our mission and our vision are united by a single purpose: to help those who learn differently reach their full potential as learners and as people. What happens here is transformative, and I invite you and your child to visit and see for yourselves the great work that happens daily. To schedule a tour, please call us at 202.722.5555.
