Kingsbury Day School is a unique learning environment for students who have considerable academic strength yet are at risk for academic problems because of specific learning disabilities, attention deficits or developmental delays. The day school’s program, which is ungraded through middle school, teaches basic skills integrated with social studies, science, art, music, drama, computer skills, and physical education. The program is designed to build self-confidence and academic skills that will maximize each child’s learning potential. The emphasis is on diagnostic-prescriptive teaching and the curriculum is individualized so that each student works at his or her own pace.

Some children with learning difficulties may have experienced frustration and self-esteem issues secondary to their learning challenges. Many of those children begin to flourish in a setting with a low teacher-to-pupil ratio and an individualized education program such as the one Kingsbury offers. However, Kingsbury does not provide a program for children whose primary diagnosis is emotional or behavioral problems, autism, or mental retardation.
