KINGSBURY'S SUMMER PROGRAMS

Monday, June 26th - Friday, July 28th, 2017

Summer STEAM

Kingsbury's five-week Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) Summer Program is designed to prevent summer regression and increase academic skills through many engaging activities and exciting adventures.

Students receive individualized interventions to address Language Arts, Mathematics and Writing needs; engage in collaborative investigations that promote critical and creative thinking; and enjoy educational field trips. Small class sizes, highly qualified special education teachers and the use of assistive technology permit us to offer data-driven academic instruction guided by students’ individualized learning profiles.

The STEAM program also supports students’ social goals through organized recreational and sports activities.

Students leave with a portfolio of class work, baseline and ongoing assessments and progress reports.

LARC

The Language and Academically Rich Center (LARC) at Kingsbury presents Arts Alive! This five-week summer program is geared toward preschool aged children to enhance early literacy skills, while developing communication and social skills. A Speech-Language Pathologist and Special Educator create interactive, experiential learning opportunities. Early learning concepts are ingrained within camp activities, which encompass art history, fine & gross motor play, music, drama, and more! Throughout the session, campers will study great works of art, culminating in a family-friendly gallery walk, to showcase their accomplishments.

-We’re making a masterpiece!

Mindful Movement: Aerial Yoga

Aerial Yoga allows children to connect their minds and bodies to breathe, balance, move, and fly with the use of lycra hammocks suspended from the ceiling! Through aerial yoga, children build strength, confidence, coordination, social and self-regulation skills, all while having fun! Drawing from the latest research in neuroscience and sensory integration, our aerial hammocks will provide your child with a unique and effective experience to increase brain organization and self-regulation. Additionally, our small group sizes ensure that each child will receive the support, accommodation, and encouragement needed in skill building.

-We’re soaring and exploring!

Lego Education

Legos bring abstract concepts to life with an engaging, hands-on approach that is fun! Through this active, engaged experience, children learn skills that help to layout the foundation for lifelong learning. The hands-on solutions ignite children’s natural desire to explore and discover. Students will learn and develop in areas such as language, math, science, technology, and engineering. More effectively, children will develop and improve skills such as problem solving, collaboration, and communication. Our program is cutting edge through the use of programming and coding in the interactive Lego designs. Legos foster collaboration and encourage self-guided learning by creating enthusiasm and giving children the tools that they need to overcome challenges.

-We’re building something great!

Jump-Start Fitness

Jump-Start Fitness summer camp program, is for children of all skill levels. The program promotes the importance of healthy eating, physical fitness, activity, and fun! We find that most children enjoy being active and playing games that test their physical endurance and strength. With that in mind, we teach proper fitness techniques in Cross-Fit, focused on improving conditioning, strength, and flexibility. The children will also be instructed on ways to incorporate fitness activities and exercises into their daily lives. These tools will help to keep them strong, committed, and healthy, all while having fun and spend time with friends. Jump-Start Fitness uses group play and specialized instruction to improve their endurance, coordination, and overall fitness level.

-We’re where fun meets fit!

Pre-K Adventures Camp

Pre-K Adventures Camp is a week of excitement, fun, and learning! Led by a licensed occupational and physical therapist, campers will spend their mornings engaged in arts and crafts, water play, playground activities, and games focused on improving fine and gross motor skills. Pre-K Adventures provides learning and discovery in a supportive camp environment.

-We’re ready for our new adventure!

Parent Testimonial

"Our daughter was transitioning from a Public School to Kingsbury Center. She initially is shy and was concerned because she didn’t know anyone at Kingsbury.

When Ms. Ginsberg called us at home and spoke to Melinda on speakerphone, answering her questions and anticipating the fears associated with starting a new school, Melinda was pleased. She then looked forward to coming to Kingsbury.

After two days attending Kingsbury's summer program, Melinda asked us, “Do I have to go back to Public School?”
