The Middle School program is for students in grades 6-8. We follow the district and national standards. Instruction is individualized to address each student’s distinct learning strengths and needs. Classes are graded and developed using data to assist in the educational planning of each classroom.

The curriculum is determined by grade level and uses a differentiated approach to meet the need of each student. Lead Teachers design lesson that focus on the developmental abilities of each student, emphasizing remediation of cognitive skills necessary for learning and social development. We encourage exploration and creativity as the students apply their skills to a variety of learning projects and activities.

The curriculum follows that of a typical Middle School, not only in terms of concepts and skills that are covered, but also is in alignment with national and state standards. We utilize a variety of instructional techniques and methods to reach every student.

Consultation between teacher and specialized service providers is continuous, so that each student’s program can be modified to meet his or her specific needs. Service providers such as the occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and tutors are often conducting therapy in the classroom within the content being taught. They consult on a regular basis with classroom teachers on strategies and methods that will enhance learning for a student.
