The Kingsbury Upper School program, serving students in grades 9 - 12, provides students who have learning differences with a structured, supportive and encouraging environment. The Upper School experience rounds out the Kingsbury educational experience by preparing our students for the transition to higher education and the world community.
A full complement of college preparatory and several Advanced Placement courses are offered to our students. Teachers work through individualized planning to differentiate instructional materials to meet the unique learning needs of each student. We follow the District of Columbia, Maryland and/or Virginia standards.
Consultation between teacher and specialized service providers is continuous, so that each student's program can be modified to meets his or her specific needs. Service providers, such as the occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and tutors, are often conducting therapy in the classroom within the content being taught. They consult on a regular basis with classroom teachers on strategies and methods that will enhance learning for a student.
