People who struggle with written and oral communication feel frustrated and often fall behind in school, social or workplace settings. Those with ADHD or other learning differences that affect communication will benefit greatly from the kind of professional and compassionate help that our Speech & Language Therapy program provides.
Our skilled team of licensed therapists provides a range of services to children and adults in the Greater Washington area, including Maryland and Virginia. These services become integrated as needed into the daily program of children attending Kingsbury Center, and are available on an outpatient basis for other children and adults in the region.
We provide consultations, evaluations, screenings and treatment for individuals and groups. Our services focus on:
- Receptive and Expressive Oral Language – Processing and responding, language comprehension, building a rich vocabulary, voice/fluency, storytelling, and other issues affecting spoken language
- Pragmatic (Social) Language – Confidence in conversations, using and interpreting non-verbal language
- Written Language – Phonemic awareness, speech sounds, sound-letter correspondence, spelling and reading, writing for school and non-academic purposes
- Speech – Articulation and pronunciation, vocal quality, alternative communication systems, and help overcoming stuttering
